Article Submission as link building strategy

Most of link builders use articles for link building, but most of them follow a wrong approach, they write an article and submit it to thousands of article directories, this approach has following drawbacks:

Most of submission will not be indexed: Same copy of article will create a duplicate content issue and Google will not index all the copies of article existing in different article directories (However Yahoo and MSN can count them as multiple back links), thus it is not so worthy strategy. Most of article directories uses nofollow Tag, thus no benefit of link juice or PR.

Articles Can beat your own website in SERP: often it is seen that article directories are so strong as far as SEO attributes is concern, they posses thousands of quality back links, high crawling and indexing rate etc, thus when we submit our keyword rich article then search engine(s) show them up in SERP than our website, In this way we create a competitor our self.

With saying above, I don’t mean that articles are useless, in fact they are one of the best link bait instrument, but we can make most of it if we adopt a different approach, below is the one which I use, and it is working fine for me:

Publish Article on own website: I publish my article on my own website, it has several benefits and one of them is it add and update the content of website frequently thus leave a positive note for search engine(s).

Creating and Submitting a RSS feed of Article: Then create a RSS feed of article and submit it in to reputed RSS feed directories. It will create lots of natural back links from the feed subscriber websites.

Discuss Article in Social Book Marking Websites: Submit your article reference in social book marking websites, for this one can start with Digg, these social bookmarking generate lots of quality traffic as well as some great links.

Other Websites can publish your article with your website’s reference: Peoples are lazy in writing content and they copy articles from other websites with a reference note like “Source: www.sourcewebsite. com Author: Mr. ABC”, in this way you also get natural back link, however the effectiveness of these links are doubtful and can not comment the worthiness of these links, BUT something is better than nothing, especially when you have not to make any extra effort for these.
